• The client returns to a normal elimination pattern as evidenced by no abdominal cramping and passage of soft, formed stool.
• The client exhibits adequate hydration as evidenced by elastic skin turgor, moist mucous membranes, and intake equal to output.
• The client maintains a nutritionally balanced diet, and verbalizes appropriate diet modifications.
• The client remains free from local and systemic infection.
• The client displays intact oral mucosa with no evidence of inflammation.
• The client demonstrates appropriate oral hygiene.
• The client maintains intact skin integrity, including th perianal area.
• The client is free from pain and discomfort.
• The client verbalizes factors that precipitate or exacerbate GI conditions, as well as means of avoiding or minimizing these factors.
• The client demonstrates compliance with the prescribed medication regimen.
• The client is able to verbalize feelings and effective coping mechanisms that assist in his and his family’s quality of life.
